If you are offering Dues Discounts, you can create a new dues definition with the discounted price and then use the dues adjustment feature to apply a credit. In this example, we will offer a discount to Active members of $25 for early payment of dues. The Member will pay dues at the discounted price, and dues adjustments will be used to apply a credit for the difference. In this case, $25. Issuing the credit will show that the Member has fulfilled the dues requirement.
Required Access:
You will need the Dues Administrator or Administrator access level.
Where to Go:
- From the Member Portal, go to Admin > Member Management
- Go to Dues Management
Create a Reduced Dues Definition:
- On the Dues Definition Listing page, create a dues definition such as Early Bird Active Dues for $100 instead of $125
- Go to Dues Status Listing, and assign the definition to your Active statuses. Unassign any dues definitions that are defined at the full price. When an Active member pays dues, she will see the option to pay at the discounted price.
- Do not change the Membership Dues Requirement. The requirement should still be listed at the full price of the dues. See Membership Dues Requirement. Dues Requirements should not be altered when offering a temporary dues discount.
- When the discount promotion has ended, use the Dues Status Listing page to unassign the discounted dues definition and assign a dues definition defined at the full price. Create a dues definition if needed, e.g. Active Dues. Now when an Active member pays her dues, the option will be at full price.
- Apply dues credits for anyone who paid at the discounted rate. This will allow the system to show that the member has completely fulfilled her dues requirement. See the next section - Applying the Dues Adjustment.
Applying the Dues Adjustment:
- To apply a credit after the Member has paid, go back to Admin > Member Management > Dues Management.
- Go to Dues Collection and find the member.
- Click on the "+" icon to add an adjustment.
