There are two ways to retire or disable Advisor Groups. The main difference is seeing the Advisor Group in the history of the Member profile. Admins will still be able to access the disabled GroupShares.

1) Disable the GroupShare group, but don't delete the access group.

  1. Go to Access Group Manager.
  2. Find the Advisor Group and click Configure.
  3. Disable the GroupShare for the access group by setting Is this a GroupShare Group? to No.
  4. Save your changes.
  5. On the bottom of the page, click Refresh GroupShare.

This will disable the GroupShare so Members cannot access it, but Admins can still access the group. The access group and the GroupShare (as disabled) will appear in the member profile.

This process is required to keep the Advisor group name as part of the history in the Advisor Group section of the Member profile.

On the homepage, it will no longer show in the Advisor Groups section but will remain visible as history in Member profiles.

2) Deleting the access group will keep the GroupShare as disabled and show in the GroupShare history of the profile.

  1. Go to Access Group Manager.
  2. Find the Advisor Group and, under Actions, click Delete.
  3. At the bottom of the page, click Refresh All.

This will not show as part of the history in the Advisor Group section of Member profiles, but Admins can still access the GroupShare group.

Currently, there is no way to keep the Advisor Group listed in the Advisor Group section of the Member profile (as history) while also removing it from the Access Group page. There is no option to archive Access Groups.

How Admins can access disabled GroupShare groups:

  1. Go to GroupShare Groups.
  2. In the top right, click the eye icon that includes archived groups.
  3. This filter will display all disabled groups.
