Now that you have completed the Description Fields for each placement, you can move on to tagging. Tags are critical to the functionality of the Placement Tool, as they add important information Members need to select placements that match their interests and availability. In your first year using the tool, you will need to manually tag each placement. In subsequent years, your tags will carry over from the previous year, and you will only need to update placements that have changed.
To tag placements, you will need Placement Matching Administrator or Placement Editor permission.
- Placement Matching Administrator: Go to the Administration Queue and select the Tag icon to access Placement Configuration
- Placement Editor: You will be brought directly to the Placement Configuration page when you access Placement Matching
- The legend for the tagging icons is located at the top of the page and matches the tag icons in the Tags column
- NOTE: If your League has chosen not to define placements by Hourly Selection, you will not see that icon in the legend
- To apply a tag to a placement, you may either:
- Click the Edit Tags icon in the Actions column
- Click the specific tag icon in the Tags column
- Icons in the Tags column will be shaded in gray until they have been applied to a placement. Once applied, they turn red
Specific Tagging
The tags displayed in the Add Tags screen are those you have configured in Year-Specific Settings. Apply the tags relevant to your placements.
Hourly Commitment is the first point of matching for the tool
- Select only the hourly commitment options that your League currently offers with your placements
- Leagues not using Hourly Commitments will not see any hourly ranges from which to select
Availability & Seasonal Availability indicates the times of day and times of the year this placement will occur
- Select the Availability filters that apply to the placement
- Leagues not using Availability to define placements will not see options for these two tagging fields
Skills are critical in describing the opportunities for development offered by the League’s placements.
- Select only the skills directly related to the responsibilities of the placement. Recommended: tag 2-4 most relevant skills
Locations allow you to specify where the placement is occurring (i.e., 123 main street, in-person, virtual, mid-city)
Once you have completed tagging, click the Update button to save your changes and return to the Placement Configuration page. If you do not click Update, your changes will not be saved
Waves: If your League is releasing placements in multiple waves, you may add up to five waves to each placement. Here is how:
- Find the Waves column on the Placement Configuration page
- Click Add Waves
- You will only see options set in the Year-specific Settings
- To remove a wave from a placement, click the “x” next to the wave name
- If you elect not to use waves, General Placement will appear by default
Archiving Placements
For any placements your League does not wish to display to your Members in any given year, here are instructions for hiding these from view.
- Go to Placement Configuration to view your placement list
- Find the placement that needs to be archived
- Click the Archive icon to the left of the placement name to hide this placement from view
- Archived placements will not display in the Placement Catalog or on the Placement Configuration list. However, they have not been deleted, just hidden
- To view archived placements, set the Archived column to “Yes” (or “All”)
- To unarchive a placement, select it from your archived placements and click the Restore button.
- To view only active placements, set the Archived filter to “No”
Previewing the Catalog
To check that all placements are displaying and entered correctly, click on Placement Catalog icon (book) in the upper right corner of the Placement Configuration window. This shows the Member view of the League’s placements.
