This article will show you how to create a promo box for your Public Site, which are a call-to-action, prompting your members to do things such as sign up for an upcoming event or view important pages you would like to highlight.
- When you log in to WordPress, on the top left next to the home icon, click on your Public Site name's label
- Click on Edit Page
- Scroll down and find Section Special Content. Click on the Add Section button and select Promo Section. (The shortcut to easily find this would be Ctrl + F for Windows or Cmd + F for Mac to search for "Add Section")
- Here, you can add a title under Promo Header and a description under Promo Content
- Under Promo Call-to-Action, click Select Link.
- Here, you can find the event or page you would like to link to. There is also a search bar to look for the item you would like to promote. Select the content and Add Link.
- Next, you can upload a Promo Image by clicking Add Image. You will find a set of thumbnails here that were previously uploaded to your Media Library or you can click on the Upload files tab to upload new images. The recommended dimensions for the Public Home Hero image is 1140x680 px.
- For Textual Contrast, the default is Light text on a dark colored image or you can choose Dark text on a lighter colored image to display the contrast of the text on the banner.
- For Text Alignment, the default setting is aligned to the left. Check the box if you would like to center the text.
- Remove Promo Overlay is an option to remove the gradient overlay on the image (this overlay is to reduce contrast on the image and help the readability of the text)
- If you would like to arrange the order of where your promo box appears on the homepage, click on the Promo Section label and drag up and down to re-order the layout.
- After you're done, scroll back up to the top of the page and click Update.
- Then, click on View Page link at the top of your menu to see the promo box appear on your site.
