OK to re-establish Link to Mailchimp
Mailchimp Administrators:
Mailchimp will change how information is received to prevent spam. This will change the synchronization method of e-mail addresses between your league's Member Portal and Mailchimp. This will require setting up a new sync between Member Essentials and Mailchimp. This articles explains how to set up the new synchronization method.
The previous synchronization will stop on July 15th and the Mailchimp Audience will not receive updates of e-mail addresses after that date. The current Audience can still be used, but over time, it will be less current as e-mail addresses change in your Member Portal. After July 15, your League’s Member Essentials Administrator can re-establish the connection to Mailchimp.
If there are any active Mailchimp Campaigns or data in Mailchimp that you do not wish to lose, we recommend you create a New Mailchimp Audience to sync your member’s e-mails. If your League is not paying for Mailchimp or has no available audiences, you can create a new, Free Mailchimp account with any e-mail address that has not been used with MailChimp.
Alternatively, if you like the features of MailChimp, you can purchase more services to increase the number of Mailchimp Audiences.
If you are unconcerned about the Mailchimp data, you can delete your Mailchimp Audience. If you choose to delete, you will receive various warnings if you have recent e-mails or campaigns. In Mailchimp, your templates are stored separately and will not be affected by deleting the Mailchimp Audience.
Follow these steps to re-establish the Member Portal sync to Mailchimp:
Required Access: Administrator
1) Select an available free Audience.
- Sign into your Mailchimp Account.
- From the panel on the left, select Audience.
- To the right of the page, Manage Audience and select View Audience
- On this screen, you can create a new audience or delete one.
- If you are creating a new audience, make sure to choose a unique name, which will be used in a later step. (do not name the Audience "Member", to avoid confusion)
2) Copy the Mailchimp API Key- The API Key (Application Programming Interface) permits Member Essentials to securely push e-mail addresses and information to MailChimp
- In the Mailchimp Dashboard, on the lower left, select the logo associated with your account profile and choose Account & billing.
- Inside the Accounts page, select Extras > API Keys
- Scroll to API KEYS, choose Create a Key to create a new API key. (do not select lower keys: Your Mobile SDK Client keys)
- Under Your API Keys, select the field under API key and copy (Ctrl + C or right click and Copy)
3. Establish synchronization between Member Essentials and Mailchimp
- Select Admin > Member Management > CRM Sync
- Paste the API Key from MailChimp into Api Key
- Select the Name of the Mailchimp Audience in Audience Name.
- Click Save.
